Oh hi! Perhaps you've been intrigued by doing a boudoir session but have soooo many questions and not nearly enough time to email Rachel all of your thoughts and concerns. Totally get it. Well, you're in luck because I'm going to do my best to read your mind any answer all of your burning boudoir questions here!
WHAT IS A BOUDOIR SESSION?
Glad you asked! This is a unique portrait session that is all about celebrating YOU. And
if desired, you get to show off your beauty in a slightly more revealing way than your
last family photo shoot. Typically clients choose to wear sexy outfits or lingerie. As the
word "boudoir" implies these sessions are normally shot in an intimate, bedroom-type
atmosphere. These sessions can range from elegant to edgy in feeling, it all depends
on the client's wishes!
HOW DOES THE BOOKING PROCESS WORK?
Just send me an email at smile@belleamiss.com! We'll figure out what type of session best suits your needs and schedule a day time, and location for your shoot. I will also go over all of my package options with you. Prior to your shoot, I will send over a questionnaire so I can get to know you a bit better and also have a clear idea of the direction of your shoot.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Personally, I live at the edge of the Twin Cities in Hudson, Wisconsin!
Professionally, I shoot my boudoir sessions in private, bright, and beautiful studio
spaces in both Minneapolis and St. Paul. Right now, I offer mini and full sessions at
Studio Apparatus in St. Paul and The Juniper Loft in Minneapolis and The Hive House
Studio in Stillwater.
FROM START TO FINISH, WHAT CAN I EXPECT THE EXPERIENCE TO BE LIKE?
On the day of your session, you'll be greeted warmly by me and I'll show you around the space where we will be shooting and fine-tune your outfit and accessory selections.
From there, I can grab you a glass of champagne or your beverage of choice, and we'll get my stylist started on your hair and makeup (if you've chosen to add on that service) Finally, we will begin photographing your fabulous self!
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE AND WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
In the days leading up to your shoot, be sure to get a good night's sleep, hydrate
yourself, and keep your skin moisturized! Clients' favorite attire tends to be matching
bra and panty sets, lingerie, and sheer or silky robes. A man's button-down dress shirt
or an item of clothing that belongs to your significant other is a fine choice as well!
Also, a few accessories go a long way. I highly recommend bringing along some
stilettos, a blingy necklace, a cocktail ring, etc. or any piece of jewelry that's
meaningful to you! If you are doing your own hair and makeup, a bold lip and
voluminous lashes (apply falsies if you can!) photograph beautifully.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY IMAGES?
Believe me, I know you're anxious to see your images and I'm just as anxious to get
them to you! I will deliver your private online gallery to you two weeks after your
session. From there we will discuss options for high-quality print products. You're
under no obligation to purchase.
HOW DO YOU EDIT?
My finished images have a warm, soft, and natural look. I will retouch things like scars, bruises, scratches, random flyaway hairs, or anything that doesn’t feel like “you” (as specified by you). I will not liquify your skin or change your body shape through my editing.
WILL MY IMAGES BE USED ON YOUR WEBSITE?
Images are ONLY shared with consent. Every client reviews and signs a model release
form before her photo shoot that indicates whether to keep her images private or not.
Even if a client releases her images to me, I still have her approve each individual
photo before it's published on my website or social media accounts
HOW MUCH DO SESSIONS COST?
Sessions begin at $450 for 30 minutes of shooting and 15 edited digital images. A $125 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking and the rest of your balance is due before the day of your session. I do offer high-quality prints and albums available for purchase as well. Several times a year, I offer boudoir mini session marathon days where I book clients back-to-back for a lower session fee. I'M SO NERVOUS.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE ME LESS NERVOUS?
I get it, I've been on the other side of the camera before and it can be intimidating.
Don't worry, I'm not expecting anyone to walk through the door and immediately
sprout Victoria's Secret Angel Wings. (But if you do, we'll roll with it!) Throughout your
session, I will help you breathe and relax and ease into the shoot with simple, natural
posing and I will give gentle direction throughout. I've had my own boudoir photos
taken, so I'm familiar with the freaked-out/excited feeling and managing it. Also, will it
be weird if we are already friends? Heck, no! We'll definitely hug and possibly giggle at
first but from there I'll be exuding professionalism, I promise.
